Piers Morgan reveals what happened during ‘festive catch-up’ with Jeremy Clarkson

Broadcaster Piers Morgan has revealed what happened during a ‘festive catch-up’ with Jeremy Clarkson following the pair’s controversial relationship in the past.

The former lives in Oxfordshire, owning both Diddly Squat Farm in Chadlington and The Farmer’s Dog pub in Asthall.

The 65-year-old is known for starring on BBC’s Top Gear as well as both The Grand Tour and, in recent years, Clarkson’s Farm on Prime Video.

Over the years, Mr Clarkson has had a controversial relationship with Mr Morgan, with the pair clashing several times.

This reached new levels when the 65-year-old punched the former Daily Mail editor at the British Press Awards in 2004.

Yet the pair surprised fans with a photograph together on Wednesday evening at a formal event.

The snap was posted by Mr Morgan on X alongside the joking caption: “Great to catch up with my fans at Christmas.”

Speaking on the incident in his new book Woke is Dead, the 60-year-old wrote: “He ended up punching me before we settled things at the British Press Awards.

“I’ve still got the scar on my forehead, and it wasn’t entirely unjustified, so I have no complaints about it, although I did think he had a very weak punch, and he did break his finger hitting my head, which is quite satisfying.”

In a post on X on Thursday morning, Mr Morgan said: “It was a very festive catch-up… Jeremy proudly showed me his disfigured finger, and I proudly showed him the scar on my temple from where he punched me.”

Since the incident, the pair have reconciled, as Mr Morgan added in his book: “He contacted me out of the blue and said, ‘Morgan, Clarkson here, drink?’

“We met in my local pub and actually had a great night.

“We got his daughter and one of my sons to act as the official peace treaty ratifiers, and peace in our time was agreed.”
