Jeremy Clarkson, 61, apologised earlier this week after fans caused traffic chaos when they flocked to his farm. The popularity of his new series Clarkson’s Farm led to the police being called after roads were congested around Oxfordshire.
A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police confirmed this as they clarified they “attended the scene” but “no crime had been committed.”
Later in the week, Jezza issued an apology to his neighbours on his Twitter account.
He penned: “People of Chadlington. I’m truly sorry about the traffic around our farm shop last weekend.
Jeremy has now unveiled plans to beef up his security at Diddly Squat.
According to the Daily Star, The Grand Tour presenter has submitted an application to West Oxfordshire District Council.
His plans are to improve the building’s security over “public interest” in the site.
The application reads: “The purpose of the application is to seek to increase the flexibility and security of the building by replacing existing material roller shutter doors and gates on the southern elevation with new metal roller shutter doors, closing gaps in the existing timber cladding and to provide a new rear entrance to the building.
“We are though aware of the level of public interest in the site and thus have made an application in order that the council and neighbours are fully appraised of the intended works ahead of their execution.
“The proposals would not change the character or appearance of the building detrimentally.
“The roof is not altered and the external walls will not appear different.
“The roller shutter doors will not alter the agricultural or utilitarian aesthetic of the building and will be a high quality material, preferable in fact to the existing mix of gates and fabric shutters.”
The initial application was submitted back on April 29, 2021.
However, the comments to his planning permission application have been mixed so far.
One local commented on June 22: “Our roads are clogged with traffic and the whole area is becoming a danger zone with fast cars showing off their speed on narrow lanes, traffic queuing for a mile or so, blocking roads and compromising access for emergency vehicles.
“The farm shop should be closed down immediately.”
The council is due to rule on the application in the next few weeks.
The farm has become even more popular in recent weeks following the release of the Amazon Prime Series Clarkson’s Farm.
The show follows Jeremy and other workers on the farm as they adapt to farming life.
The series has been a huge success and fans are already hoping it will return with more episodes.
