TV comedy legend brands Jeremy Clarkson an ‘idiot’

Jeremy Clarkson fronts the hit documentary series Clarkson’s Farm, which follows his attempts to run Diddly Squat Farm in West Oxfordshire.

The fifth series of this is currently being released on Prime Video this month, but the 66-year-old is also on TV screens with Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.

Mr Clarkson has fronted the show since 2018, taking over from the original host, Chris Tarrant.

It was while watching the latest Millionaire episode that Ms Saunders branded the former Top Gear presenter “an idiot” on Celebrity Gogglebox.

Jennifer Saunders is one of Britain’s best-known comedy actors and writers, rising to fame as part of The Comic Strip Presents and as one half of the double act French and Saunders.

She later created and starred in the iconic BBC sitcom Absolutely Fabulous, playing PR guru Edina Monsoon opposite Joanna Lumley’s Patsy Stone.

Away from television, the 67-year-old has also voiced memorable characters in major animated films, including the Fairy Godmother in Shrek 2.

She has appeared on stage and radio during a career spanning more than four decades.

On Millionaire, Mr Clarkson gave the wrong answer to a contestant
Contestant Jamie Eidman when she used a lifeline to ask him.

The question revolved around animal hide materials, and Ms Eidman was left with suede and moleskin.

After providing the wrong answer and costing the contestant £7,000, Ms Saunders said: “Look at that stupid face!”

On the ITV show, the former Top Gear man remarked: “I have some moleskin trousers.”

Watching at home, Ms Saunders responded: “They’re not made of moles!”

She ranted: “What’s the matter with the man. He’s an idiot!”

After revealing the correct answer, Mr Clarkson contested whether or not suade is soft.

Fellow Actor Nigel Havers, also appearing on the episode of Celebrity Gogglebox, added: “Of course it’s soft. I have a beautiful soft suede jacket. Idiot!”
