Jeremy Clarkson’s farm in the Cotswolds is doing better than expected

TV personality and farmer Jeremy Clarkson has publicly praised his longtime partner, Lisa Hogan, after she achieved what he called an “impossible” agricultural feat on their now-famous Diddly Squat Farm in Chadlington, Oxfordshire.

The former Top Gear host, 65, took to Instagram earlier today (Wednesday, October 15) to celebrate Lisa’s successful potato harvest—despite long-standing claims that the crop simply cannot be grown in the Cotswolds’ challenging soil conditions.

“Every year we are told it’s impossible to grow potatoes in the Cotswolds,” Clarkson wrote in the caption, alongside a photograph of the freshly dug potatoes on display.
“And every year, Lisa manages it.”

The light-hearted yet admiring post quickly attracted attention from Clarkson’s Farm fans, who flooded the comments section with their own congratulations and witty remarks. One user playfully noted, “The blessing of the Irish—the ability to grow potatoes anywhere! I’m sure she could also distil them into whisky if called upon.”

Another fan chimed in with praise, calling Hogan a “Cotswolds legend”, while others couldn’t resist teasing: “At night, under a full moon, Lisa buries potatoes she bought.”

An “Impossible” Win on a Challenging Farm

Lisa Hogan, 51, has become a beloved figure among fans of Clarkson’s Farm, the Amazon Prime Video documentary series chronicling Clarkson’s ongoing (and often chaotic) attempts to transform his 1,000-acre farm into a profitable agricultural enterprise.

Clarkson first purchased the property—then known as Curdle Hill Farm—back in 2008. Over the years, he has renamed it Diddly Squat Farm, a tongue-in-cheek reference to how little money the land seemed capable of producing. It wasn’t until 2021 that the public got a first-hand look at his struggles and successes, with the debut of the hit farming series.

Throughout the show’s four seasons (with a fifth currently in post-production), Hogan has proven herself to be far more than Clarkson’s partner. She has become a key figure on the farm and in the show—balancing administrative duties, running the controversial farm shop, and stepping into the practical side of farming when needed. Her charm, wit, and unwavering patience have earned her a strong fan base in her own right.

More Than Just a Supporting Role

While Jeremy Clarkson may be the star of Clarkson’s Farm, Lisa Hogan has consistently demonstrated her capability and resilience as a farmhand and entrepreneur. The successful potato crop she’s managed to coax out of the Cotswold soil is just the latest example.

The Cotswolds, known for its rolling hills and scenic beauty, poses unique agricultural challenges. Heavy clay soil, unpredictable weather patterns, and drainage issues make root vegetables like potatoes notoriously difficult to cultivate in the region.

But against all odds—and repeated warnings from more experienced local farmers—Hogan has managed to defy expectations, producing a thriving potato harvest each year.

“It’s really a testament to Lisa’s hard work and sheer stubbornness,” said a local resident who has followed the show since its inception. “While Jeremy makes most of the noise, Lisa quietly gets on with things and gets results.”

Clarkson’s Farm Series 5 on the Horizon

The fifth season of Clarkson’s Farm has officially wrapped filming, according to Prime Video. Though a specific release date has not yet been announced, the new season is expected to arrive in 2026, following a thorough post-production process.

Fans can look forward to more high-stakes farming drama, local political battles, and the continued evolution of the Diddly Squat team. Season 5 will likely delve deeper into the couple’s dynamic as co-runners of the increasingly complex farm operation, along with updates on recurring cast members like Kaleb Cooper and Charlie Ireland.

A Farming Couple in the Spotlight

Jeremy Clarkson and Lisa Hogan have been together since 2017, and over the years, they’ve turned what started as a seemingly whimsical project into a highly publicized and surprisingly successful farm venture.

From run-ins with local councils over planning permissions to heated debates about modern agriculture, the couple’s journey has captured the attention of millions across the UK and beyond.

While Clarkson may dominate the headlines, Hogan’s latest triumph is a reminder that she’s a driving force behind Diddly Squat’s ongoing evolution.

With each new growing season, and each new series of Clarkson’s Farm, Lisa Hogan continues to prove that sometimes the quietest workers produce the biggest results—even when the odds (and the soil) are stacked against them.
